@meghannmcuniff: Kouri Richins' defense didn't have a tough time cross-examining the alleged source of the fentanyl with which prosecutors in Utah say Richins poisoned her husband, Eric Richins, in March 2022. L Robert Crozier made it easy on them by testifying in direct-examination today (Friday, February 27) that he never sold fentanyl to Richins' housekeeper, Carmen Lauber, and instead sold her oxycodone. You can watch him say that in direct-exam here @Meghann Cuniff. Lewis followed up in cross-examination. "Were you sober when you met with the prosecution in 2025?" Lewis asked. "I was," Crozier answered. "To tell them that 'I never sold her fentanyl. I sold her Roxy 30s. Oxycodone,'" Lewis said. "Oxycodone, yeah," Crozier answered. "What is your understanding of what Carmen Lauber wanted? She said, 'I have a friend who wants some pills.' What was your understanding of what that friend wanted?'" Lewis asked. "That she wanted Roxys," Crozier answered. "So again, you didn't start selling fentanyl until late 2022?" Lewis asked. "That's right," Crozier answered. "You had no access to it in January, February, February, March of 2022?" Lewis asked. "No," Crozier answered. "So at that time, in early 2022 you would not have been telling Carmen Lauber ‘Here, these are fentanyl?’l Lewis asked. "No, I didn't, I didn't have a fentanyl plug at that time. I didn't know anybody that sold fentanyl at that time," Crozier answered. "If Ms. Carmen Lauber testified that you told her, 'These are fentanyl pills. I'm selling you fentanyl pills' would that be true?" Lewis asked. "I mean, if I said it to her, then it would be true. But I don't know that I said that to her," Crozier answered. "Well, were you selling her fentanyl pills?" Lewis asked. "I don't believe so, no," Crozier answered. Crozier testified he knows he wasn't selling fentanyl in early 2022 "because everybody was scared of fentanyl in early 2022 and in 21." "It's all over the news, and people were dying, and everybody was it was kind of hard to get. ... People were scared of getting it," he said.
