Singapore is heading into an unusually hot, dry stretch: on 29 May 2026, the Meteorological Service Singapore and NEA flagged a high chance of El Niño developing between June and July, which tends to slash rainfall during the already-dry southwest monsoon season. Compounding this, a second phenomenon — a Positive Indian Ocean Dipole — may form later in the year, cooling the eastern Indian Ocean, reducing cloud cover, and drying things out further; if both coincide, they could bring warmer temperatures and lower rainfall across Singapore and the region from June to October 2026.
good morning everyone
