This seems to be a good method to learn for younger students. But for older that is not good for their knees! The health of students is more important, than quick training success!!!

A lot of Muay Thai is taught this way. Incorporating Muay Thai techniques to practice Katate is an amazing idea! However, the only thing I would suggest is a lot of stretching, if your not stretched properly this could lead to some wild muscles spasms. If you’re going to incorporate this in your Dojo Sensei, I would recommend researching Muay Thai stretching and Katas. They are very different from Karate. Martial arts just like music go full circle and are all part of the same foundation but have many variations. I would say every musical instrument can be compared to arms and legs, every technique can be compared to scales, arpeggios, chords, and and each style can be compared to karate, Kempo, Muay Thai, ext. Each discipline requires extensive knowledge to ensure safety and effectiveness. I would personally, practice this on your own first, perfect it and then teach it to your students. And with that I say, great job Sensei, you see and find value in ways many would ignore or would write off, also your primary objective as I can see has always been your students. Seriously! Great job!

As an Okinawan Kempo practitioner, I love the concept behind this. We were taught that our kata should be fluid and strong, but also have intent as we develop our skills and knowledge. I completely agree with you that this is a great a method to implement a better understanding of how important and crucial core strength and hip structure is not just for kata but for karate as a whole. I genuinely enjoyed watching this video.

There’s a part of aikido called suwari waza which is done on the knees. Same idea to teach how to use your hips, how to stabilize your core, and gives you a better understanding of the movements in standing position. 👍
