The mosque committees need investigating, they raise hundreds and thousands to buy the building, to modernise the wudu area, to extend the mosque, but they create a sisters area out of a storage cupboard or an outback house not connected to the mosque.

Wallah I’m not even exaggerating. I visited a mosque in Brooklyn for Jummah once - the men had 2 floors, the women had 1 floor but the men were also taking up the women’s floor and the women had to be in a corner that only held space for 6 women.

I dont understand these comments. Has no one ever considered there are people who travelling from a far searching for places to pray. How can I pray "at home" if I have no home in the area. Its hard as a women to travel to these non muslim majority countries and they rarely provide praying places to begin with and then there is barely space for women...

It seems that we should look to Muslims in East Asia or Southeast Asia. In many places in Asia, women’s prayer areas in mosques are located in the same room with a reasonable proportion of space. Or like in China, there are even women-only mosques with female imams of their own.

I‘m glad that for my mosque nearby, the women pray on the 2nd floor, but my mosque also offers women to pray below, it’s not that strict and it’s purely for women to pray where they feel comfortable!

once in lebanon I was away from home and needed to go pray, so we stopped by a mosque and couldn't find any place or prayer clothes to pray , I went back to visit the mosque with some prayer clothes , it turns out the girls area was on the corner of stairs and full of them and Quran, like really on the corner and the mosque was very big so they can make easily a good area for us
