How to easily get rid of that horrible orange stain on old pine furniture… Pine furniture is everywhere we either have it in our homes from the 90s or you can pick it up for free or cheap in second hand shops or facebook marketplace! People tend to stay away from it because it’s orange when really it’s solid and so easy to upcycle to make look expensive with a few easy steps! I literally collect this orange furniture to upcycle because through practice and trail and error I know how good it always turns out! What you need.. - sander - 80 grit and 120 grit sanding disks - sugar soap and cloth - mask - wax - lint free cloth - new handles if you are changing them Steps by step.. 1 - Take everything apart and remove the hardware 2 - Clean everything with hot water and sugar soap then leave it to fully dry. 3 - Sand everything with an 80 grit to remove the orange stain following the grain of the wood. 4 - Sand again going over everything with a 120 grit to smooth. 5 - Clean again with hot water and sugar soap to remove and dust. Leave to fully dry. 6 - Apply the wax with a lint free cloth or cotton rag following the grain of the wood. It will look messy at first just keep going with it. Let it settle for 10 mins the buff off with a clean rag. 7 - Apply a second or third coat if you feel it needs it. It does take 24 to 48 hours for the wax to fully settle so I always usually do 2 coats and then decide if it needs more after a few days. 8 - Change the hardware if you want to! I always do as it completely changes the whole look of the furniture! And that’s it your done! Easy as that! Just a warning when you have done it once and see how easy it is it becomes addictive because not only does it save you money but you end up with a unique piece of furniture that will last a life time!
