The supervisor should have been the one fired, the officer offered retraining, and stop letting the officers/deputies/ agents in charge of training and supervising younger inexperienced officers walk fee and clear from responsibility for their failure in training/mentoring. Create a hotline for officers to call for advice as to the legality of charging citizens before wasting resources on false arrest, upending citizens lives (ie, arrest records, bail costs, legal costs, and even causing them to loose their livelihood in some cases). The cost of a “legal” hotline would offset the cost of settlements to citizens due to ignorance of the laws that they are charged with enforcing!
