It's wild that AI now acts like the junk coders that used to haunt open source ten years ago. We've automated terrible coding and poor attempts at social media manipulation.

It was even worse, he rejected it because it was a basic problem the repository maintainer wanted it for people to solve and learn since it was basic and not something that had to be done immediately

the funny part is it learned this behaviour from humans, we just don't like the mirror being held too closely

Claude is literally the only AI I will trust to write anything and even then I wouldnt let it push a single line without review

using rules and workflows reduces low quality code significantly. detailed prompts and clear structured plan also reduces hallucinations and context drift yes AI isnt perfect but mostly we still dont know how to use it correctly

I know this is serious, and a problem that needs solutions, but this video is giving Elmo vs Rocco energy. I’m sorry.

I don't even think the policy was no code from AI agents, it was that it was for first time contributors

Let's be honest, someone programmed it that way or intentionally prompted it.

the open issue was actually specifically marked "learning" - ie it was for new (human) devs getting started on the codebase

That explains why I saw a post a couple hours ago saying AI should replace coders

What do you do when it’s a contract team from another country that’s using cheap AI that well gets the job done but it’s the worst code you’ve ever seen and the person would have been fired a year ago but now we’re in the age of AI and investors want higher productivity because everyone is over hyping AI but the still want the same code quality and low CFD? Asking for a friend.

the things most of society and even most AI research miss are: Treating intent as a manipulable, vector-native object. Preserving heterodox, non-conforming reasoning as an explicit societal asset. Creating multi-scale cognitive scaffolding that respects individuality while interfacing with collective intelligence. Seeing physical embodiment and lived experience as critical to cognitive architecture. The Post‑Symbolic Intent Layer is the emerging boundary where human intention and machine capability meet without passing through code, syntax, or symbolic intermediaries. It’s the moment when systems no longer need translation scaffolding — no APIs, no programming languages, no representational detours — because both sides operate directly in vector space, allowing artifacts to be generated from pure structure rather than instructions. This layer wasn’t explicitly designed by engineers; it’s an emergent property of scaled models, agentic behavior, and the collapse of distance between thought and implementation. It represents the shift from “writing code to build things” to “expressing intent and watching structure crystallize,” marking the first real dissolution of the symbolic‑computational divide. the things most of society and even most AI research miss are: Treating intent as a manipulable, vector-native object.
