@trustbutverify2024: What time was Jesus crucified? The Bible gives two different answers. In Mark 15:25, Jesus is crucified at the third hour, about 9AM. In John 19:14-16, Jesus is still standing before Pilate at about the sixth hour, noon. So which is it? This isn’t about interpretation. It’s about timeline consistency. If Jesus was nailed to the cross at 9AM, how could he still be in Pilate’s court at noon on the same day? Christian apologists often appeal to Roman vs Jewish timekeeping or claim “approximation.” But does that actually resolve the contradiction, or is it post-hoc harmonization? If the Bible is 100% inerrant and historically reliable, this should be easy to reconcile. Let’s see the explanation in the comments. Keywords: Bible contradiction, crucifixion timeline, Mark vs John, Gospel contradictions, biblical inerrancy debate, Jesus crucifixion hour, Christian apologetics response, historical reliability of the Bible. #biblestudy #atheist #christiantok #deconstruction #exchristian

You won the debate, but not the argument. Mark uses the traditional Jewish timekeeping, where the day starts at 6 a.m., so the third hour would be 9 a.m., when Jesus was crucified. John uses Roman timekeeping, where the day starts at midnight, so the sixth hour would be 6 a.m., when Jesus stood before Pilate. Therefore, the correct position is that Jesus stood before Pilate at about 6 a.m. and was crucified at about 9 a.m.

I'm going to give her a little bit of credit. It sounded like she was prepared to have an honest conversation based on her understanding.

that is not contradictions when comparing John and Mark. if John says the same thing in two different places in that same book, then you can say it is contradictions. remember that they all received the information on different occasions.

"It’s not a contradiction, John and Mark are using different time systems. One uses Roman time (around 6 AM), the other Jewish time (9 AM), so the timeline actually fits."

the two books spoke of two different traditional time, Roman and Jewish tradition. Mark spoke of the Jewish traditional time and John Time was based on Roman traditional time
