A lot of this is wrong. For those wondering Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, so it doesn’t need to penetrate the skin that deep to work. Its whole job is to sit in the upper layers of the skin (which the molecules do penetrate into) and attract/hold water, that’s the mechanism. Deeper penetration doesn’t make it better or more effective. And moisturisers absolutely DO NOT thin the skin. That myth came from people confusing topical steroids with everyday skincare. Regular moisturisers support the barrier, reduce water loss, and help the skin recover. There’s no biological mechanism where a moisturiser would make the skin thinner. It just doesn’t make scientific sense in any way. This is why we need to stop listening to anyone who calls themself a Dr and check for the relevant expertise

If I left out the moisturizer, I'd be walking around looking like a f-ing reptile! 🐍🐊🦎🦖 I wash my face, dry it, and instantly feel my skin pulling. I HAVE TO MOISTURIZE with something.

Hyaluronic acid DOES benefit the skin for the who have dry skin (like me) and it helps maintain my skin barrier tremendously since I have dehydrated skin. There’s a reason other MDs hate on this guy
