Black isn’t actually a color, it’s the absence of light so it absorbs the light more than the brighter colors. That’s why you use silver or white reflectors on film because it deflects light rather than absorbing it

I was filming for a brand and I had to do a “skit” (dress up as two different people) and I didn’t change any lighting but the different looks had COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LIGHTING

I've noticed this in the past, especially filming with a phone. At times you have to use the Manuel film setting(if you aren't already) and adjust to your liking!

My webcam does the same for doctor visits. Like, cool, I have to set up lighting for a visit.

The white balance automatically adjusts on your camera so will adjust the contrast settings when the dark jumpers in view
