As a long-time hairbox fiend, you need to look at what number the hair dye has on the box. It usually goes from 1 (full black) to 9 (very light, almost platinum blonde) with the 0s being the full platinums. The second digit is usually the undertone, and some dyes have an additional letter to let you know even further what type of color *for that level* you are buying. With your currently hair color, I personally would not go lower than a 7 for a red dye because the undertone is going to push it darker (especially for extensions, since you they won't faded as quickly as your hair because you won't be washing them as much).

Hairdresser here 🙋🏼‍♂️You need more of a gold reflect not a red copper. It’s always going to be orange. Try more of a light golden blonde with maybe a tiny bit of copper and you should be alright :)

Maybe try that water dye method? Buy a bottle of a hair dye like this, fill a tub with hot water, and squirt the dye inside of the water. Once mixing it around, you had dip the extensions into the water/dye mixture. I think it’ll give you more control of how dark you want the color

I have basically the same natural hair color as you and I have the same problem… Overtime I’ve realized that ironically the best option is to actually dye my hair a light warm chestnut brown or dark blonde and then if I still need a pop of red I can just do like a conditioner toner over that. Because if I end up coloring it an actual “red” or “copper” color it always just looks way too red and copper.

U mite need to just put it in your hair or I’d water the hair dye downn if u can like scoop a small amount of the dye out and mix it mostly with conditioner than put it on the extensions
