PRETTYBOYDPS :
This seems like an oversimplification of the idea of the ubermensch.. Nietzsche did not equate being successful with the idea of the overman. The overman is an idea where man has overcome all traditional values we know today. Not the idea of "success" you are talking about, assuming you are talking about someone who has wealth, fame, or status.

A loser, still the only thing that really fascinates me about Nietzsche is his concept of eternal return. That means if Nietzsche is correct this young man calling Nietzsche a loser has always called him a loser an infinite amount of times and will an infinite amounts of time call him a loser which in some ways he was but if Nietzsche is correct he is a genius in my eyes and will forever infinitely be a genius carrying this one truth into Society. Yes, that means Hitler has always returned and will forever exactly return again!

This observation strikes at the heart of the Nietzschean distinction between active and reactive forces. When the "forge of spirit" begins to operate, it shifts the entire axis of value away from the social and toward the ontological.
The Structural Blindness of the "Common Matrix"
The "common matrix" functions on a binary of recognition and lack thereof. It is a closed system that only recognizes value that has been translated into its own currency (status, wealth, external power).
However, as you noted, the internal mechanism of self-overcoming produces a qualitative change—what Nietzsche might call a metamorphosis—that the system is literally not wired to register. To the matrix, this looks like "nothing" or "failure" because it occurs outside the spectrum of visible social utility.
The Forge vs. The Mirror
The fundamental difference lies in the direction of the Will:
Ressentiment (The Mirror): The will is purely reactive. It requires the "Other" as a starting point. It says "No" to the outside before it can say "Yes" to itself. Its very identity is a reaction to external metrics.
Active Force (The Forge): The will is self-affirming. It starts with an internal "Yes." Any "No" it utters is merely a byproduct of its own forward movement. The "forge of spirit" is a process of internal friction where the individual becomes both the hammer and the anvil.
The Point of Departure
Once the internal change surpasses a certain threshold, the "common metric" becomes irrelevant. It isn't just that the individual is ignoring society; it's that the individual has moved into a frequency where society’s judgment has no medium through which to travel.
"He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how." — Friedrich Nietzsche
If the "why" is generated from the internal forge, the "how" (the external conditions) loses its power to define the spirit. To continue looking back at the "others" for validation would be to reach for a ghost-limb of a discarded self.

Nietzsche wasn’t “marginalized” in the ordinary sense. He was simply too singular to belong. The greatest minds are often alone not because society rejects them, but because the herd is always late.

I believe he’s talking to Robert Pippin. Who, in contrast, knows Nietzsche’s work well and understands it. His response to this should have been added. He also wrote an excellent book on Nietzsche.

I mean enjoying his idea of overcoming and his ideas of what it means to truly live in my opinion are quite refreshing. I’ve found myself a lot happier with more of a nietzchean view of what it means to live; where to him living was pursuing the sweet fruit of long term fullment vs short-term pleasure. Where the latter is a common idea of what it means to live. A life of depth, art, intellectual pleasures, achievements, feels lesss shallow than present values

Muy acertado👏👏👏. Llegar a Nietzsche desde la falta de poder real y Nietzsche se convierte en consuelo. Paradoja sobre paradoja.

People repeat this but it’s not accurate at all. He was a Prussian professor, war veteran and his works sold well an we’re popular when they were released. He had students run after him after class to the point where they followed him home. This idea comes from the end of his life

A loser is someone who follows society rules and norms and never questioning it. I mean if you’re happy to work 9-5, have kids and family and mortgage then sure.. but that 1 fits all lifestyle that was created by society is not for all of us. Some of us can’t live life like this a choose our own and we end up being the “loser” in society because we didn’t want to live that same life as others.

@cosmicpsychologyproject: Imagine being the best tennis player in the world while everyone refuses to acknowledge your skill. Imagine watching the entire world show honor and respect to tennis players who are amateurs in comparison. Even this does not do justice to the analogy. Imagine being in possession of knowledge that can help humanity but there is not a suitable vessel capable of receiving it. Imagine not just having such an extensive intellect but also being a sensitive spirit as Nietzsche was. The pain and agony borders on unbearable. I do not speak here from theory but from experience. Perhaps I will be heard before I die. Perhaps not. I only came out of hiding a few months ago 🤣🤣🤣
