@dr.kavita.t: A lot of you with variants of normal might read this and feel upset and invalidated as feeding didn't go as planned. I understand it's frustrating when someone tells you that something can be done when it didn't happen for you. I want to acknowledge that and offer an explanation. We do not have lactation being taught through structured systems. Our field is doing an incredible job but we are plugging holes quickly without indeoth thought. Common practice becomes the norm and with this there is an implication that that norm is based in evidence. When in fact it is based on repeated practice. Just remember 16- 20% of population have nip diff. That's someherr between million 665 to 800 million women/ AFABs. It's not rare. And in many other places where they have not lost the societal and community knowledge of breastfeeding the difference is not an issue. What and how we're teaching is the issue. Hope this helps people feel empowered, beautiful and incredible. As always remember, you're incredible and I'm proud of you! #Breastfeeding #breastfed #latch #postpartum #newborn
Hey I didn’t use AI on this. Excuse me TT - don’t make assumptions.

Wish I saw this when I was fresh PP! In the hospital the midwives told me I wouldn’t be able to EBF because of inverted nipples so I pumped for the first 5 days of my babies life and then ended up seeing a private LC who helped me, I’m now 7 months EBF! But was so so hard because he hadn’t latched those first few days we really struggled

The Boob Coach :
I have speculated that the use of training bras when children are moving through the tanner scale and developing breast buds— as well as near constant compression of the nipple and Areola during adolescence, pregnancy, and just daily life — prohibits normal development and the rising of the nipples and Areola complex and hence we see more flat/ inverted tissue in “modern society”
