You left them sitting for a period of time and now they’re moving so they let out that sound to alert you. It’s an anti stalking feature so if someone was using them to track you, you would hopefully hear them and remove them.

Everyone in the comment is clueless it means it’s not connected to a phone but it’s moving. Like for example you it’s your AirPods and you turn off your Bluetooth it will make that noise since it’s not connected and it’s moving

A have had MY airpods I BOUGHT almost 2 years ago, and they make this noise randomly. because I’m not a bad person and assume you STOLE them, just open them, take the pods out and reset them. it’s just a “hey you left your pods behind” notification.
