@sweetpotatoquilts: Before I say anything else, none of these HST methods are wrong. Really, this one is about me, simply because I’m a creature of habit and admittedly a bit of a ruler minimalist 😅 So yes, the first HST method I learned is still my favorite, and here’s why: I feel more secure pressing before trimming. Pressing gives the seams a chance to settle and then the fabric relaxes, the movement caused from sewing works itself out, and everything gets a moment to stabilize before I square it up. When I trim first and press after, I feel a tiny risk of shifting once heat gets involved. It’s small, but I notice it. And since I don’t naturally reach for my slotted ruler as often as I thought I would, the simple method just fits how I sew. It works, and I’m happy with it. ➡️ Which HST trimming method do you use without even thinking? #sweetpotatoquilts #quiltingtips #HST #halfSquareTriangles #modernquilting

I like to trim after I have pressed. I seems like my squares turn out better.

Whyyy have I never thought to fold it in half? Also now the slotted trimmer makes sense. Thank you for this!
