Yes have seen it before on Trane and American standard units the fixe is to change the contactor to a two pole contactor. I’ll try to find the memo as it was about 10 years ago.

I would start with capacitor and installing a 2 pole contactor if it has a single pole currently

I was initially thinking something to do with the capacitor discharging after voltage has been removed. That would explain the 400v at the contactor on the compressor side since one wire typically does run to the cap from one of the terminals on that side of the contactor. I would throw a fresh cap on it and see if it continues to do it. If it continues to happen, run through the wiring on the schematic and verify it is properly wired. Something is feeding when it shouldnt.

Seen this in 3 goodman units and couple other brands it’s a short in the compressor causing a bleed back of voltage through one leg. Unhook the compressor from the equation and it won’t backfeed voltage anymore then you will confirm internal compressor short. It can run like that for years or fail tomorrow

You could have a shorted or CHAD line voltage wire as well

They went to the one pole contractor on heat pumps the same time they did away with the accumulator. It’s for a small internal oil heater.

it happens put a two pole in and have one side of the fan motor on the line side so it doesn't get fed the back EMF from the compressor

Since the compreessor was running it has a magnetic field. After the disconnect the coolant spun the compressor, turning it into an alternator with the fan as a load. The compressor probably generated a higher frequency than 60Hz, causing the fan to spin faster than normal.

At that voltage I would suspect the capacitor is bleeding off charge as it shuts off

An AC motor is completely dependant or frequency for speed. So the only way that is possible is changing frequency

What causes that crackling sound when the condenser shuts off, i have a carrier condenser that makes a loud crackling sound when it cut off, any idea what causes that.

I’ve had a compressor pulling high amps on start up and dropping voltage enough to cause the condenser fan to stop and start spinning backwards.
