Mine was 18 years. 18 years in one church. The church I grew up in. Met my husband at. Brought two beautiful babies to. The church they were supposed to grow up. My dad - he was the head deacon, Sunday school teacher, AV and tech, finance, building and grounds. My mom used to be on staff. 4 years ago I stepped into the preschool and children’s director position for no pay when we were on the edge of closing our doors. We hired a new pastor. It was supposed to be a great thing for our church - our home. 1.5 years in and he dissolved my position. Made accusations beyond belief. And so much more that I can’t put into words. We had to leave. The future I thought - for my kids. Gone in a blink of an eye. I don’t understand why God allowed it to happen. And I may never know. But the hurt hurts.

I'm going to tell you what I've told my now grown kids most of their lives. Do not let someone else's choices, opinions and comments effect your faith and testimony (and I'll admit I've had to tell myself that sometimes also). It is much easier to allow others control over ourselves but stand firm in what you know is right.
