I love that john is so into his wife, but I’m getting the vibe shawna is struggling with intimacy since the loss of Jacob. Which is completely understandable, but John (I don’t feel) like isn’t picking up on it. I’ve noticed in past episodes she’s not really into it either.

I think John is trying to not only make Shawna feel good about herself, but also trying in his own way to make her forget about this past year for just a moment. They haven’t been able to relax and enjoy themselves in a hot minute, and I think he very much knows that and is trying to lighten the mood as much as he can in his own way
