As a middle-aged woman who went through a marriage and a divorce and 10 years single I think it’s very important to predominantly self manage and choose someone who is comfortable with an amount of support and holding that space but not every time. If that load is too heavy, it is nothing more than codependence.

The people who are saying that maturity is holding in your emotions need to understand we are not all the same. Emotions held inside the body create disease. Let them out. Maturity is knowing which words to choose as we let them out words that aren’t hurtful to others.

The concept is there, but don’t use these actual phrases 😭😭😂 they sound go generic and would just pmo even more. Rephrase whatever they puked to make sure you understood what she’s saying and it’s understood that you’re actually listening. Then follow up with questions about what they said or even ask questions about other aspects of their day/life
