Also when we compare the diversity of the first season to now it's very stark. I definitely understand that the finance industry chews POC up and spits them out at a tremendous rate and the world vis a vis DEI has changed so much but objectively the show has gotten whiter and whiter over the years. Gus, Rishi, Danny, Eric etc being gone and having Harper sidelined two seasons in a row has completely changed the core of the show for me.

I do agree we need male & queer energy in the show. But not having her at the center isn’t what I signed up for. I enjoyed the show the most when there were multiple entwined characters arch’s all showing insight to the same central plot

I made a video about this very thing. They are literally giving us NOTHING when it comes to Harper, the character that seemed to be the main lead in the first two seasons. Every “bad” person I. This show gets humanized in some way and all we get for Harper are vague references to a toxic mother who ultimately unceremoniously dies offscreen?!? Like wth?!? Yes it’s fun to see her be insane-o mode when it comes to risky financial bets but that’s not solely what this show is about anymore. It feels like they don’t care about her character as much and I don’t like it. 😒

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been saying this exact thing! I really appreciate you saying this. It's extra frustrating because My'hala featured sooo heavily in the marketing for this season. It feels like the writers don't care about her character anymore but they can't write her off because she's the face of the show.

to be honest i disagree, i don’t think Harper was sidelined I think in a way her character grew thru the conflicts her and her group faced this season, her character work was more subtle this season in comparison to other seasons and in comparison to Yasmin this season, but there is still great character work on Harper’s end, her grief of her mother was showcased thru her dynamic with eric as well the conclusion of that dynamic to show that cycle continues, the cycle of people leaving her, whether in their control or not, her character work is still great, it’s just not as clear as before but no she’s still phenomenal.

It feels a bit performative to criticize them pulling away from Harper and lean on diversity as the reason when they literally brought back Eric’s character and this season provided the deepest insights into her thinking and family dynamics.

I don’t agree , i think the new direction its better for every character to be centered at some point . When you watch the finale it all makes sense and season 5 could bring more screen-time to Harper . To me this season was perfect

she is underwritten because they dont have an insight on how or relation to write the mindset of an american black woman moving like a rich white male and in the uk. they seriously needed a shonda rhimes, or misha green for consultation. i will stand on this soap box
