In accordance with UCI regulations, athlete safety always comes first: stopping is mandatory. Cycling doesn’t take place in a stadium, but on shared public roads. Sometimes, unexpected things happen (like a train!) and you have to stop. When it does, the priority is always to ensure both safety and sporting equity.
