@freddiesflowers: There’s what may be seen as a controversial tip here, but it works incredibly well for creating super structural arrangements like this one: to bend more supple stems, like the calla lilies and fritallaria (punchy scent!) seen here, you can strip away lengths of their outer skin, which leaves them superbly bendy. It does mean they may not last as long, and you need to handle them carefully; however, it creates a fabulous effect. The vessel here is really amazing, found by the ever resourceful @eloisefirth in TK Maxx - Murano glass, no less! It works especially well with the magnolia, as the whole vessel looks a little like an open magnolia bud, I think. When working with branches, it’s always important to create a solid base shape. To do this, I first look through all the branches in the arsenal to find those with interesting shapes, then hold them up to see which combinations work best together. Once they’re in the vase, you can see any extra branches that need trimming to allow them to have their own space. Other than that, I love the colour combination of the pinks and purples - I’ve used hellebores in the middle, and I love their hint of yellow too.
