when he tells you it wasn't his intention to make you feel bad and because of that you shouldn't be overreacting that way. IMPACT OVER INTENT LADIES, IMPACT OVER INTENT!!!

My ex (16yo) refused to speak to me until I put my contact lenses in. He took a handful of 💊 on our 3rd date & after being hospitalised he told me all his mental health issues. He then used that to manipulate me “come over to my house or I’ll unalive myself”, so I’d go & he wouldn’t talk to me to punish me for not being there when he “needed” me. He also pointed a firearm at my head. Another ex wouldn’t let me talk to other men. If I did he would interrogate me about who he was, how I knew him, what he meant to me, etc. He also drove fast & dangerously when he was angry. He wouldn’t let me wear certain clothing, not even the blouse of my work uniform because it had a lace panel which showed my bra straps. He hated me showing attention to my family’s dog. I grew up in a household where I always felt like I was walking on eggshells, the same at primary school because I wanted people to like me, and the same in my relationships. I’m still trying to break that cycle

Feeling insecure in an outfit I was wearing before we went out, I adjed my ex-partner if I looked fat in the dress. His reply was “no more so than usual”. 26 years later and that still has an impact on me. He also did not he silent treatment too.

Every time my father returned from visiting family abroad, and seeing my girl cousins on their best behaviour, he would go for months without saying one word to me.

In the car on the way back from a party I said “that was nice” and he said “yeah, you were a bit loud though, like everyone thought you were being a bit loud” I believed him and slowly slowly dampened my personality for years. I checked in with a friend when we split up - literally no one thought I was “too loud” and they were all super concerned when I changed my personality. 🚩

When pregnant “you’re not as big this time are you…like you’re big, but not big big!” While gesturing at areas that were not my belly. The way I was conditioned to brush off his back handed compliments is so clear now

most women, especially younger women, don't realise how incredibly abusive men's weaponised incompetence is. It leaves you shattered, questioning your very sanity, essence, logic and intentions, it takes every spread of dignity and peace from you, if you are dealing with a skilled abuser / player. There truly are no second chances, there is only assuming the worst, because it's 99% of times correct, and walking away instantly. Otherwise we loose 15 years of our lives in servitude to a parasite, before we know better

Took me 22 years to realise my relationship was abusive. I left 3 years later.

when we talk about abuse, it always seems like the abuser is doing it knowingly. So maybe some people wont see their own abuse because it is not what their abuser is like. we need to point out that MOST abusers do not plan their actions and outcomes, it has become automatic so they dont even think its wrong. THIS is why so much goes unchallenged. im glad now we can discuss details as that is the key to making change, its all our responsibility!💪💪💪💪

One time I came home super shaky cause someone almost T-boned me, but I was able to swerve away just in time not get hit, and when I told my ex-husband about it he was immediately angry at me for not letting it happen so we could get a new car on the insurance. I said «you mean to tell me that I should pay with my body?», to which he yelled in my face «WE’D GET A COMPLETELY NEW CAR, CHRISTINE!!» as if I was the stupid one for giving in to my survival instincts. Gosh, how he hated me…
