"I hate to defend men" , Why ? , Surely what's right and what wrong are the most important things?

It’s not about defending men it’s just stating what is true.

I hate the 'I hate to defend x' idealogy because it makes it blatantly clear that before the details of a situation, what matters to the person talking is the optics. Like Ive seen people say this in regards to actual physical and emotional abuse, and isn't not supporting abusers or toxic behavior simply because the group you like is doing it what we are supposed to be promoting.

I've always said the variables for attraction are weighted differently depending on gender and ethnic background. Having a short hand for how men see attraction is often not helpful for the most part.

Depending on the subculture there can be a big status aspect as well. A surprising number of men will reject a woman *they* find attractive because (they think) their male friends don’t.

a man who emotionally connects to a woman BEFORE developing feelings for her is almost impossible to find, I'd not Impossible

But I hope men also learn that someone becomes more and more attractive to you visually if you start to like them personally. so yeah I get the initial concept and it's difficult not to acknowledge.... but let's all go deeper!

aren't we all visuals? I don't think there is nothig wrong with it as long as we don't make fun of others who don't suit our tests

Beauty in a woman signals health and fertility.
Women historically needed more from a man than fertility, so their attraction is based on more variables.
Neither is better, we just have different needs.

What’s crazy is that men picking a partner based more on looks than personality is also one of the biggest complaints I hear so it’s wild that some people don’t see that those are directly related to

From my experience women are more visual. Ive dated some very ✌️non conventionally ✌️attractive women and still thought they was my world because i GENUINELY view people like a tapestry of my feelings once they’ve gotten them. I also dislike generalisations in non joking forms so summing people up by gender feels immature.

Hi there. I’ve thought about this for a while and, although just looking for conventional beauty standards is really a thing, there could be something deeper going on. Kind of a reverse green beard effect. Green beard effect is when an individual tends to help others that they perceive as related to them, because of some visible feature. Reverse green beard effect would be you looking for a partner with features that hint at a genome that complement your own, which would lead to your offspring’s having a better immunity, among other benefits.

Isn't that correct for everyone?
If they are attractive you will be more inclined to approach them or engage in conversation if approached by them then you can learn more about them
Looks aren't everything but they sure do help

Everyone who is looking for a romantic partner should find them attractive. If you are not attracted to them physically, that’s cool, but then that makes it a plutonic friendship. It doesn’t make it a romantic one. Individuals just need to make their intentions clear from the beginning to avoid any questions of your goals with that person.

I mean I personally believe every relationship does start with physical attraction it what us as animals are hardwired to of course looks are where things start but play a little role in a healthy relationship and connection and ideological alignment is way more important

I did try to date a guy based on personality rather than physical attractiveness and I could barely bring myself to kiss him. Did not work out. Zero out of 10 would not recommend

Agreed, but i think people get it wrong when they describe what bar men are looking for. I think the visually appealing bar is pretty low and is the entry bar for attraction. Visually appealing isn't usually tons of makeup or enhancements for most guys. It's a personal preference of what features we find attractive. For me, I understand that Emma Stone is conventionally attractive, and she has an attractive body, but I don't find myself attracted to her when I see her. So the bar is low for most guys, but changes from guy to guy based on their personal preference in facial features, body type, hair, etc. There are many girls i see everyday that I find visually attractive, but for me, someone like Emma Stone isn't one of them.
