This is called Naked Raku, and the pots aren't glazed, rather the surface is treated with a type of slip called terra sigillata that is burnished to a lovely satiny sheen before bisque firing. The slip that is put on top of the piece just prior to the raku firing process cracks because it doesn't shrink at the same rate as the fired piece beneath. Naked raku cannot be done over glaze because as the glaze melts it would just make a mess of anything on top of it. The carbon from the reduction chamber is what turns the clay black, and the cracks in the surface slip is what allows the carbon to make the clay below black.

Reminds of how here in Eastern Europe we boil eggs in dyes (like for ex. onion skins) to make easter eggs and once you peel them, they look marbled like these 😅
