if it’s in app/online ONLY they don’t price match, but if it’s an online price it absolutely is allowed to be price matched. honestly it’s not about ‘being allowed’, it’s about the system and the way corporate puts the discounts in. retail workers have nothing to do with the discrepencies of online vs in store!!!!

Second one was just unwilling to do it lol. The other location may have a stricter management but as far as retail goes they should have done it to make the customer happy

This is ALWAYS the case with Hollister for some reason- full price in store and discounted online I always just go window shopping in store and then actually buy what I want online because sometimes it works out sooo much cheaper also almost every item goes on sale for 30%+ I literally brought a new season sweat set for half price last week and it’s back to full price this week but I ordered the top too big I’m gonna go in store and try to get them to exchange it but again they’re so wishy washy on their policy it depends on who’s working that day 😭

I went to hollister to exchange a shirt to a different size and I had bought it on sale online, but when I went in to exchange it the cashier said I was going to have to pay full price for it like ???? I obviously didn’t disagree and did end up paying more for it 🥹

Hi ! To make it easier if the price in app/online shows up with a blue price tag like the one you showed it means it’s an online exclusive and we’re not able to price match it ! If the price shows up in red then we are ! A lot of stores unfortunately don’t train associates well so there’s a lot of miscommunication and lack of knowledge on all our policies so that’s more than likely why price matching varies in stores.

just worked today and for this one, we werent allows to do the price match bc it specifically says “online only.” my store usually does try to honor the price online if it doesnt clarify its an online exclusive discount :3, it honestly just rlly depends on the sm

Happened to me in Abercrombie they didnt wanna price match, in my car i was ready to order the item and check if it was only an “app only” discount it was NOT. And said i could get price matched so i got off my car walked back into the store and got my item i wanted with the app price😁

I’ve worked retail for 10 years and can confidently say that making the customer happy and making the sale will always come before the “we can’t match it if it says it’s an in-app exclusive” excuse. People wonder why brick and mortar is dying, but consumers would rather shop online to know the definitive price vs. arguing with a sales rep. You did the right thing leaving the items behind after them not being price matched

one time I was trying to exchange at hollister for the exact same top.. just a different size and I thought it would just be an even exchange of the sale price… but since it wasn’t on sale in the store they still tried to charge me for the full price 🙄 even though it was still on sale on the app

yeah so there are certain discounts that there are online only that we can’t honor, but some that we can. if the website/app says it’s an online exclusive deal then we can’t price match to it

I worked at Maurice’s. We had codes to honor the online discount. The other retail store we didn’t have codes but we honoured the online discount still. Ardenes does the same or they order it online for me and get it delivered if the size isn’t in store for me

I work at Hollister and we ARE supposed to price match! I literally did it my last shift. For some reason, we have this problem where clothes/accessories won’t ring up on sale in store. I always just have one of my managers change it. Trust me, we had a new sale the other day and I had to call my manager over like 4 times to change the prices😅

Anthro worker here - we always price match what’s online to in store and do what’s cheaper for the customer! Odd they didn’t do it at Hollister tbh maybe they were new!

it usually depends on the promotion! some are online only but in most cases we usually do price match! i’ve worked at hollister for almost a year now and we can scan it and see the in store price and online price, i always get my manager because to price match we need them anyways!

hey! hollister employee here! different hollister can get different instructions on price matching online and whether they should be or not. They also changed it quite frequently, which is really annoying so sometimes we’re allowed to price match and sometimes we’re not…. for my store rn we are only allowed to price match if it isn’t an online only store. like 7 months ago we weren’t allowed to price match at all. it changes kinda frequently.
