So many people are quick to judge and say why can’t he stay with you. I worked for 12 years in a dementia carehome… dementia care is a 24 hour job. Mentally and physically draining at times. You’re doing amazing, by showing up for him, a lot of families don’t bother once they are in a home. He’s extremely lucky to have you and your family, stay positive ❤️❤️❤️

The amount of people commenting here without any knowledge of someone’s personal circumstances and without a shred of empathy is shocking. I see a son committed to his dad even though he has to go through the living grief of already losing him whilst he is still alive. He is showing up and caring for him, loving him. So many elderly people are left alone in their own home in unsafe circumstances or kept at home with family whilst they’d be better taken care of under professional care. So instead of judging, just because YOU were able to choose a different course, extend warmth and empathy, it will make you a better person. Patting yourself on the shoulder because life allowed you certain privileges is not it. Well done to you sir, I know far too well what your going through. Wishing you strength and sending warmth. 🍀🙏

Those of you who wonder why he doesn't take care of him at home have probably never taken care of someone with dementia yourself. I work at a dementia care facility, and it is incredibly demanding and mentally exhausting. You need to have the right knowledge and approach to even be able to care for someone with dementia.

If I ever develop dementia I'd like my family to find me a care home. it is such a huge emotional strain on families watching your loved one disappear. it can become unsafe to be at home and people become a danger to themselves. Find me a home and go live your lives is what I would want 🫶🏼
