You should also explain the difference between what the law says and what a funeral homes policy can say. Just because you don’t legally have to be embalmed Doesn’t mean a funeral home doesn’t have the right to say “we will not do an open casket unless the person is embalmed“. So long as they’re being forthcoming and telling you that it’s a policy and not the law, that’s perfectly acceptable.
