@kadenwatson11: The 1966 Batman movie is pure camp! But what is camp and how did it affect future adaptations? Let’s discuss! #batman #kadensmovieclub #movies #filmtok #whattowatch

Alukard The Abysswalker :

Fun fact! in a recent Batman comics event where they were doing their own spiderverse, main Batman neets Adam West Batman who gifts him the anti shark repellent. Then later mainline Batman uses it against King Shark in a very cool (and cute) action scene! its a very heartwarming and funny moment

B L U :

You should do a mini series on more detail about what camp is and examples of it

CycloneSpark :

i am surprised of how much the comedy still held up the bomb joke got me to laugh which i didn't thing would happen

Gorby :

jeffanderson649 :

original 1966 movie poster

Lily :

the bomb quote is in my top 10 ive ever heard it never gets old

Ross Fulton668 :

Sorry I wasn’t paying attention in th beginning there

4.4.4_dom :

I love this movie soo much its soo goofy

Bumble breezy :

When people ask me what I love most about Batman, I answer that he is such a microcosm of culture at the time and I argue that no fictional character has had such a consistent cultural impact for as long as Batman. Each iteration of Batman can ask similar questions, and every era comes to different answers: what does it mean to be a hero? What makes it hard? What does “justice” mean? As someone who primarily reads comics, I am so interested to hear your thoughts on Batman in film and loved hearing what you have to say about 1966 Batman as the camp ideal

Magnus Darcrider :

Camp aside, this take is still impactful on Batman as a franchise. The fight scenes are nuts but work, Frank Gorshin is the reason The Riddler is still a mainstay of the Rogues Gallery, and Bruce Wayne isn’t a milquetoast. And Hell, Nolan ripped off the bomb gag and played it straight…

Eli :

Definition of cool actually

Jooby441 :

hii Kaden, these videos help a lot with the time I've been having I just want to thank you for opening this movie club

VivianCrespo :

I have the whole series on DVD. Still love it! Even it’s campy, 😉. I saw that movie in our hometown theater cinema during the 80’s, so much fun.

Shannon Sweeney :

We love the Caesar Romero joker in this house

ashton :

one of my favorite classes in undergrad was about comics & censorship. you did a great job covering seduction of the innocent and comics code authority! knowing all the history makes the campiness of this movie make a lot more sense!

mattDernlan :

I'll never forget the Shark Repellent Bat Spray! No problem was too specific for a bat gadget. I grew up on this VHS!

Vman :

The 1966-67 Batman is unique it’s not really “Batman” that’s the Adam West Batman not the “real” Batman.

chardegree :

This is so much more entertaining than Christian bales Batman I do love Tim Burton’s Batman though

RedGuy :

and that weird phase in 1966

xlantz :

I always wondered why Adam West's Batman was so goofy and cheap looking. I figure it was the 60s and for kids, so it wasn't trying. I'm glad to know it was on purpose for comedy

n3v3rmind31 :

During the Dark Knight Rises I was begggging Bale Batman, while flying around that nuke, to say “Some days you just can’t get rid of a bomb!”

jett :

I had never seen this version of Batman and only knew about the Nolan Batman and Battison. So this ultra campy, silly Batman was hysterical and super refreshing. It also allowed me to really appreciate and enjoy Catman from Fairly Odd Parents. It also was interesting to think that these villains felt “successful” in that they kind of did a lot of damage to the Bat, nearly killing him a few times and even capturing him fully. If this was a drama, Batman would definitely be hurting pretty bad

Logan Fisher :

I didn’t like when Batman told me to support the police.

Miglow :

Kevin Smith: "Tim Burton stole that idea for planet of the apes from our comic" Tim Burton: "I don't read comics" Kevin Smith: "well that explains Batman..."

Greg :

My grandma still thinks this is how Batman should be. lol
