[JEN-NUH] :
People who say “if he wanted to, he would” aren’t talking about material, you’re hearing it all wrong girl…..they are saying this because a chunk of this generation of men lack putting in the smallest bit of effort. Whether it’s through avoidance, immaturity, disrespect, lust, selfishness, or genuinely not caring about how their actions might affect their partner. It was never about material for most people. yeah, this is a problem for some people, obligating their bfs to spend a lot on them, but this literally isn’t what the phrase is about. The phrase is saying if he wanted to be there for you when you are sad, angry, or happy about something, he would. If he wanted to talk to you, have a genuine conversation with you, he would. If he wanted to go somewhere with you, be seen with you around his friends and everyone else, he would. It’s even the smallest things that men lack in providing to the relationship that crumbles a relationship and makes girls/their partners feel like they are holding a bunch of weight on their shoulders. Obviously teen relationships shouldn’t have high expectations, but guys often put absolutely no effort in. especially when they realize their partner isn’t for them, they just go quiet and leave their partner guessing and feeling like there is something wrong with themselves. Sad to see this phrase being misinterpreted
