Seeing Osteoporosis statistics for women was what made me take the plunge. I can’t even imagine the damage I did to my body and bones growing up with Ana. Weight lifting is taking my life back into my own hands.

Exactly! It hasn’t made me bulky at all it’s actually made me almost too lean because it increased NEAT so much

It balances women’s hormones!!! More muscle means a more regulated system. I had insulin resistance and weight lifting while eating healthy reversed it! It made my ovaries start to function on their own after seven years of not being able to function on their own. I was told I’d never have kids and now I’m pregnant!!! Weight lifting is life changing

Dr.DerpyDerp :
Lifting heavy increases your bone density and muscle mass, and every year after turning 30 people start to permanently loose both density and muscle mass. This is not including all the other health benefits of exercise in general.

Lift and lift HEAVY (progressive overload). Working in the hospital, 90% of falls from elderly people could’ve been prevented if they had bone density

Building muscle strengthens your immune system. When you lack muscle, infection can spread at a much higher rate. It also naturally lowers your blood sugar.

Both of my grandmas are on opposite ends, one of them never exercised always had health problems bad falls etc and now cannot walk, the other one exercised and walks around just fine and still does yard work. It really opened my eyes to the way we treat our bodies and how we’ll be able to function as we age

I’m leaving for the gym in 20 minutes. It’s 510 am. 4 years ago, I couldn’t walk without assistance. I’m turning 48 this year. I was losing the ability to function on my own. Now I have balance and strength

My grandmother is 87 and still goes to the gym regularly and she is fully mobile 99% of the time. She sometimes uses a walker to sometimes help her get around if she’s walking a lot.
