@thewhispersofhistory: In 1976, residents of Circleville, Ohio began receiving anonymous letters that exposed alleged affairs, personal secrets, and private details about their lives. The letters targeted multiple people in the community, including school bus driver Mary Gillespie. They accused her of having an affair and threatened harm if she did not leave her job. Soon after the letters intensified, her husband Ron Gillespie died in what was officially ruled a drunk-driving crash, though questions about the circumstances persisted. In 1977, a booby-trapped handgun was discovered along Mary’s bus route, allegedly set to fire if a sign was removed. A local man was later convicted of related charges, but many residents believed he was not the original letter writer. Anonymous letters continued even after his imprisonment, and the true author has never been conclusively identified. #HistoryTime #fyp #truecrime #storytime
