So I like to bbq. And my ex would never let me buy a whole brisket “ because you’ll just ruin it” so I never bought one. On a date with my now wife we needed to pick up some stuff for a party and briskets were on sale. And I was like oh man! That’s a good price too bad I can’t get it. And she looked at me like why TF can’t you get it? Just get it and try. 😳whaaa? Yeah. Been together 9 years now lol

One thing I’ve learned in therapy too is that you don’t owe him an explanation unless he’s earned that level of communication. You can say, “Dinner sounds lovely, but I’m not up for the movie.” I’ve also learned to over explain from abusive relationships.
