@molinaro_snake_lab: My wet specimens are created to give them a second life as tools for education and science. #molinarosnakelab #fyp #oddities #Science #odditiesandcuriodities
I was going to ask you how. Our lovely boy SirAcha passed unexpectedly and we wanted to preserve him

I have some formalin treated specimens and I’m going to transfer them to alcohol, shouldn’t the mason jar be sealed shut to prevent residual formalin leaking out over time as well as alcohol leaking? I’ve been told that would explode? It’s in a mason jar.

i’m new to preserving wet specimens (primarily insects), does the formalin fixing prevent discoloration in alcohol? my house centipede turned iridescent in 70% ethanol and i’m wondering if that’s why

Do you sell snake sheds? I would love to have some for crafting. Wet specimens are cool and all but dry ones are easier (and less likely to creep out anyone using my bathroom of horrors)

It is probably a myth but i always heard/thought that wet specimens where super dangerous and if it would break and leak that it would burn your skin away like acid💀 i also thought it was always in just formalin (or some sort of preservative). May i ask why you have to do that first and then put it in alcohol? (And why not 90% alcohol?). Wet specimens look so cool but just was always scared of it
