@rawrszn: The king cheetah is a rare coat-pattern variant, not a separate species. Instead of the small, evenly spaced spots seen on most cheetahs, king cheetahs have large blotches and thick dark stripes running down their backs. This appearance is caused by a recessive mutation in the Taqpep gene, meaning both parents must carry the mutation for a cub to inherit the pattern. King cheetahs are found most often in parts of southern Africa, particularly in Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa. Aside from their unusual markings, they share the same speed, behavior, and hunting abilities as other cheetahs.
