@elizabethr_majestic2: In February–March 1961, Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by her husband Prince Philip, made a ten‑day state visit to Iran at the invitation of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who had previously visited Britain. During this historic trip, the Queen traveled to major Iranian cities including Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, and the ancient site of Persepolis. While in Tehran, she and Prince Philip were formally welcomed by the Shah and his wife, Empress Farah Pahlavi, at grand ceremonial events such as state banquets held at the Golestan Palace, where the Iranian royal couple hosted the British royals in full regal attire. Empress Farah, who had become Shahbanu only a couple of years earlier, stood alongside Queen Elizabeth at these receptions, symbolizing the diplomatic and friendly ties between the United Kingdom and Iran at that time. The visit remains one of the few widely documented occasions when Queen Elizabeth II and Empress Farah were photographed and filmed together during an official royal exchange. #ElizabethR_Majestic #QueenElizabeth #QueenElizabethII #EmpressFarahPahlavi #FarahPahlavi
