so, not religious here at all, I believe the universe is just one big "alive" structure and it's linked just by the code of how it's made. I don't know why or how it came to be but I believe nothing truly ever dies it is just reformed into other things and recycled. idk why but this is enough for me. I guess I'm fine being completely insignificant on the scale of things. I guess many struggle with the ego of not mattering but to me I know I've done enough things I think matter whilst I've been alive all the time. I've had purpose of the things I feel important, that's enough. I'm still terrified of dying, just hope it'll be a more pleasant experience than my current fear of it.

In all honesty, can you really blame people for being/becoming so nihilist (even subconsciously — and especially when it is coupled with depression) when the world as we know it (economically, politically, socially, existentially) is in such a dysfunctional and disastrous state that, in all likelihood, humanity probably won't even survive the next two decades?
If you're looking for someone to blame, look to the oligarchy. They're the one's who have orchestrated this dystopian and ruinous mess.

Your content is perfect! You make me feel way less crazy and I really need that. People don't want to talk about this kinda stuff.

I do NOT think you are unnecessarily emo about this!! I never comment but I have been struggling existentially for about a year and it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Thank you SO MUCH for providing these resources. I have felt so alone in this struggle and you are a light in darkness.

Do you think when you get older and sicker you will question nihilism?

I’ve been so joyful since realizing I was nihilistic. It started with “nothing matters 😩,” but then it became “nothing matters 😍.” So I could decide what mattered.

hey there, have you ever had an experience you still can’t explain? i’m an atheist and an extreme skeptic but recently something happened after my grandma passed that has me questioning things. i don’t really know where to fit it into my world view because it’s three extremely unlikely coincidences in a row. has this happened to you? if so, how did you feel about it? how do you feel now?

there's also another struggle, for people who were by some chance naturally nihilist" since a relatively young age, figuring out the rest of society is generally not, and feeling tired or arbitrary moralizing that pretends to hold absolute moral authority

I've been using nihilism as my coping mechanism for as long as I remember. I'd like to think of it as a black hole behind you for all mishaps and bad things happening to you. Your manager berated you for making a mistake at work? Reflect it awhile and throw it to the void. Your partner dumped you? Void you go. Your colleague got a promotion but not you? Same.

How about if we are trying to confront our existential fears more directly? I’ve embraced nihilism and consider myself an optimistic nihilist. But I do wonder how my subconscious desires are being influenced still.

Could you explore how some Asian societies maintain strong ethical values without relying heavily on religion? It raises such an interesting question about morality being rooted in community and social responsibility rather than fear or punishment.

when i realize that there basically no god/ no objective morality/ no essence to things in the way they used to say in religion, i am now nihilist or absurdist ? 🤭 (english isnt my primary langage) thanks

As I moved towards nihilism I felt nothing but relief. It was the fear of living up the the standard of some superstition that robbed me of my peace. I don’t want there to be any inherent meaning to any of this. I prefer to make my own and when it’s over, then it’s over.
