People like her leaving MAGA think leaving = becoming left. They however are in fact not becoming left, they're still conservative, they're just no longer in a specific subset of a conservative cult.

thank you, I tried to have this conversation with some of my coworkers who kept telling me that I needed to be accepting of those who were trying to leave maga. I stood firm that, if someone voted for him more than once (heavy side eye to the people who voted for him the first time too) the only reason they are trying to move away from maga now is because somewhere along the way the collateral damage of his administration has hit them. Them moving away is a selfish move, and as soon as there is something that benefits them again, they will be back in whatever the next iteration of maga is.

What’s the point of this post? She was in a cult, she got out of it. We need more people like her, people who will speak out. This is more for people still in MAGA. MAGA is not going to listen to us. They haven’t for over a decade. So you can dunk on her all you like (kind of lazy at this point) but I hope people in MAGA might listen to her

It’s nice that she’s finally understood MAGA does not equal conservative. But it’s a bit of a stretch to assume everyone would just welcome her with open arms while they are suffering due to the consequences of her vote.

I really do respect your standpoint but I still will be taking them turning away from maga at face value, för two reasons. 1, political strategy. Way to many people are voting for Trump already. 2, empathy. I will always choose radical empathy because it's what I would want for myself, if I was uneducated, raised by conservatives and fell for propaganda and then realised I was wrong I would want people to have empathy for my history, let my clarity that this only applies if they have actually switched sides already

Just because you voted for trump doesn’t meant your de facto responsible for every action he takes. This also assumes that there are no negative repercussions of other candidates. I don’t understand why people associate liberalism with morality when bullying and racism(identity politics) is justified
