it's not just influencers. I worked with a woman for literally 4 weeks 15 years ago. I know so much about her kids, who didn't exist yet when we met, and could identify both of them in a crowd. unless you are intense about locking down, even personal social media has too many people!

I was at a library story time when I realized I recognized a former coworkers kids there with her mother just from fb posts. It was a good reminder of why I stopped posting my kids.

I used to love to watch family vloggers when I was a teenager. I saw daily vlogs of their kids, so it was easy to get parasocial. I had to take a step back and chill out. I didn’t even mean to do it. I just think as a human I built a connection with them, but they didn’t know me.

At this point, no matter how you feel about influencers no longer showing their kids, AI has become so advanced and people have made disgusting things using images of children. The internet has never been the safest for children and it has only gotten worse

I have never regretted keeping my daughter offline. As my page grew and I got followers I am happy that I’ve never had to wonder if they are following me for me or for my child.

There’s someone that used to be on TikTok with her kids she said one day at target someone recognized her child said her child’s name and her child (who is autistic and does not understand stranger) started to wander off that was the moment this creator took her children off the Internet and she herself has been off the Internet as well

Humans long for a community and having so much online activity makes that such a weird grey area for us now imo. We all need to be more aware of it and not try to copy these family vlogging influences. The whole thing with that poor little girl Wren really made me stop and think now I dont post my kids anymore.
