i got the epidural but I made it to 8 cm beforehand. I was too scared to feel the "ring of fire" people speak of lol. but literally being relaxed, limp noodle almost, and breathing through contractions and feeling the baby slowly drop made it so easy. I think all the tensing and squirming and screaming really intensifies the pain. I'm about to have my 4th.
