I am a nurse at Baptist Health and I have said for the longest time that metal detectors at every entrance is a necessity, as well as legit security to ensure people cant “bypass” the detectors. It shouldn’t take loss of life for them to reconsider protocols. It’s called “prevention”, not “what lesson can we learn from this?”

I’m sure their manager clapped their hands and said ok guys, let’s get back to work, think of the patients, they need you….

OB should be one of the MOST secure areas, yet most common. Hospitals Must have metal detectors and REAL security

Our women’s unit, (L&D, Nicu, and PP) are locked down with metal detectors. I assumed it was standard for that type of unit. But probably should be across the board.

hey at least employees are staying to learn defense techniques that may help them in future attacks... it is sad how dangerous working in healthcare has become.

If there’s metal detectors someone has to be there to stop people and check, let’s be real we can’t even get adequate staff to help us bedside let alone 24/7 metal detector monitoring

I work at SINAI occasionally, getting in with anything is a joke. The third floor skybridge off the garage is maybe sat with someone half the time. No one checks anything.
Our response from our manager about this was a video on 'Situational Awareness'....
The Milwaukee County courthouse a block or 2 away from SINAI has better control than this. Im already looking for a new job. Its sad.

A true preventable tragedy. I would like to point out that Hospital staff lets people piggyback in when they are come into the hospital or a department they don't question or try to stop them. I have seen at least 95% of employees do this.
