@maryalicecrocker: Major kudos on this one. Every piece of that tugged at a previous experience I have felt as a woman and as a female runner. #runtok #runner #women #womensafety #lskd
I was walking alone at night (busy road, Laguna beach) and his guy came up walking behind me and as soon as he was within earshot, he said, coming up behind you and going around you. Really made me think wow, he is super aware of how to make women feel safer.

What’s sad is I definitely get cat called SIGNIFICANTLY less now that I’m in my 30s (yes it still happens) but the fact that it starts when you’re prepubescent is DISGUSTING

I remember being a literal CHILD, 10 or 12 years old, and getting harassed. It’s insane. Bravo LSKD.

Telling my 17 yo daughter the “rules” - one AirPod in, head up, neutral face, hard eyes - ugh. If only it was as easy as pace your breathing, lengthen your stride, relax your shoulders… ☹️

I was followed by a man while I was pushing my baby in a jogging stroller, in a neighborhood that was considered nice. He exposed himself to me. I can’t even explain how that changed me.

I would vote for a series of these Ads of women just doing normal things in society🙂 going to/returning from work, grocery shopping, catching public transport etc.

I was the victim of a crime whilst running at 2pm, in a residential street where I thought I would be safe. So glad this is being talked about.

I wrote a research paper about this a few years ago. It’s sad bc it feels like no progress has been made on this issue but really glad a larger company is addressing it

I used to text my husband what I was wearing before I went out running in my neighborhood, just in case. This campaign made me feel so seen.

The honking is what gets me - it makes me so upset & puts me in a funk / on edge for the rest of my run. It’s so unfair ♥️

I’m always so scared to react because what if it makes them angry… and then what. It’s so frustrating

there were literally men in the comments of that ad saying it was over exaggerated or not true. I was like READ THE COMMENTS! almost every single comment was a woman agreeing and sharing her story!

Not to mention we start experiencing this between 9-11 on average. We barely even got a girlhood.

Thank you for sharing, I had not seen it. It capsulates being a woman runner completely. I tell men this and they think I’m overreacting. It’s not. I shouldn’t have to carry 6 different weapons on me to run when men don’t carry any.

I’ve never been catcalled more than when I was a 16yr old on my high school cross country team. I hate it here!

It was so good. So reflective of the fact that no matter what we do or how we do it, we always have eyes on us. It’s so inescapable that it’s baked into our lives and guides or decisions. It strips us of agency.
