@jillaine.tattoo: Even if you’ve had luck with numbing cream in the past, here’s what you need to know. It can be dangerous and cause chemical burns. It changes the skin’s texture, can cause ink to heal poorly, blowout or fade faster. When it wears off mid-tattoo, the tattoo session is usually ends right there. Pain is part of the process, and your adrenaline actually helps you push through. Numbing cream can take that away. Always have an honest conversation with your artist first. This all doesn’t mean that you can’t use numbing cream safely and get decent results, I just don’t think it’s worth the risk. 💖 . I’m HEAVILY tattooed. Majority before I discovered numbing cream. Use a reputable company ex: “tattoo numbing cream co” makes a great cream. It never changes the outcome or healing of my tattoos.

Numbing cream isn’t dangerous, the fact the industry and products aren’t regulated that’s dangerous. Make sure you find a brand that is known and has good reviews, like the tattoo numbing cream company, and you’ll be fine. Also never get a tattoo from an artist that is providing their own numbing cream and applying it themselves, they are not medical professionals and it is a medical product, which means it is actually illegal for the tattoo artist to provide and apply the cream. Make sure you buy your own and apply as directed by yourself.

Numbing cream for the win. I have 70%coverage and have used numbing on my last 3. will never go back. There is absolutely no difference in the healed tattoo. If you know how to tattoo the tattoo will be vibrant and saturated.

Biggest red flag in a tattoo artist is if they dont let you do numbing cream, most tattoo artists will not care if they know what they are doing, new and inexperienced artists will decine (ton of tattooers in my family and ton of friends that do then professionally and all say the same thing)

my artist used spray lidocaine and I can safely say idk if id ever do it again. I feel like the main reason it hurt so bad was because it was going back and forth being numb and not being numb

Man tattoos are earned , the whole point is not everyone can take the pain in different areas so when I see a fellow tattooed person I can say wow they sat through that tough tat. But now it’s just everyone half assing it

I debated it recently after 50+ tattoos. I even did a test area. Then I read the FDA warning and what it can do to your heart and said NOPE.

Definitely have used numbing in my tattoos before it honestly just depends on what you use and the quality it’s not dangerous if it’s ACTUALLY MEANT FOR TATTOOS AND SKIN I’ve healed 12 tattoos just fine with the same exact process for all of them

In my opinion, if a tattoo artist won’t tattoo you because you want to use numbing cream then you should pick a different artist that’s more understanding. Always do tester strips of the numbing cream on your skin first to see how you react to it before ever consider considering numbing cream in the first place.

my artist used 4% lidocaine antiseptic spray towards the end of an 8 1/2 hour session and I found it helped me get through that last hour!! (mind u not the same as traditional numbing cream)

i also have a take. during my first few tattoo sessions i used numbing cream because i have an intense fear of pain, but my tattoo artists’ patience and reassurance helped me to overcome my fear. i do agree that the numbing cream wears off faster than advertised, mine only lasted about an hour so it wasn’t even worth it. i also had more noticeable ink loss on the ones i used numbing cream vs the ones i didnt. the problem i have is this artist liking comments of ppl saying pain “earns” you the tattoo. that’s a red flag imo. if pain earns you something, then why get sedated for surgeries and procedures? you don’t need to earn the tattoo. if you have the money, you’ve already earned it.
