Any suggestions/recommendations for receding gums? I got my braces as a younger adult and ever since I’ve noticed my gums are receding and also sensitive

Once you have extensive Subgingival Calculus Formation, by this stage, you can remove the Tartar through SRP, however at this point, you may have noticeable gum recession and bone loss which would potentially be ironically exacerbated by the Calculus removal. From a purely Clinical perspective, yes, you will reduce the level of Bad Gum Disease Causing Bacteria such as Porphyromonas Gingivalis, and are able to reduce the level of Subgingival Plaque build up in deep gum pockets. The downside is that because of the Gum recession and Alveolar Bone Loss, the Roots of the Tooth may be more exposed, resulting in longer term more rapid build up of Supragingival And Subgingival Plaque build up owing to further exposure of the root surfaces as well as potentially deeper Gum pockets owing to the never ending vicious cycle of Chronic inflammation and an altered oral microbiome, hopefully, it may not lead to eventual extraction in the long term and potential cosmetic disfigurement in the short term.
