License plate readers may soon be capable of tracking far more than vehicles. A new technology called SignalTrace reportedly links cars to the wireless devices traveling with them, including smartphones, smartwatches, earbuds, fitness trackers, and even some RFID-equipped items such as work badges and pet microchips. The system works by detecting publicly broadcast signals from nearby devices and grouping them into a unique digital profile, or “electronic fingerprint.” By analyzing which devices consistently travel together, the technology can associate those signals with a specific vehicle and store the information for future searches. Unlike traditional license plate readers, the sensors can operate with or without cameras and can be installed in locations beyond roadways, including train stations, shopping centers, and event venues. Privacy advocates have raised concerns that the technology could significantly expand surveillance capabilities by linking individuals to their vehicles and movements, creating detailed records of where people go and what devices they carry.#fyp #viral

Florida Governor #RonDeSantis announced Wednesday that he is calling lawmakers back to Tallahassee for a special session in April to reconsider the state’s congressional boundaries, adding Florida to a growing push by Republican-led states to revisit redistricting. Although the state’s regular 2026 legislative session begins next week, DeSantis said he prefers to wait for an expected U.S. Supreme Court decision that could significantly affect federal voting law. The case, Louisiana v. Callais, centers on whether Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act—which prohibits voting practices that discriminate based on race—remains constitutional. DeSantis said a ruling from the high court could prompt changes to “one or two” Florida congressional districts. “At this point, it’s not a matter of whether the court will rule, but how broad that ruling will be,” DeSantis said during a news conference in Steinhatchee. “We’re positioning ourselves in advance.” Republicans currently control 20 of Florida’s 28 seats in the U.S. House. Any redraw that strengthens GOP-held districts could have national implications, potentially supporting President Donald Trump’s broader strategy to revise congressional maps in Republican-controlled states. Such moves could help the party gain seats in upcoming midterm elections and maintain its narrow majority in the U.S. House.#fyp #viral
