@marypat.sass: I wish everyone could experience what it feels like to be buried waist deep in grain (with safety personnel around). The pressure just on my legs was insane and it left dimpled marks on my skin for at least an hour afterwards. It might make someone think twice about entering a grain bin alone or playing in the back of a loaded semi. This is an older video, but since I shared about Grain Bin Safety Week, I thought it was pertinent to re-share this. This is the equipment every rural fire department should have on hand if they need it for a grain rescue situation. There are ways to nominate your fire department to get free grain rescue equipment if they don’t already have it. Let me know if you’d like more info. #grainsafety
We lost a 19 yo young man to a grain bin accident in November 22, 2019. His Momma has been instrumental in raising money to buy these rescue tubes for Indiana volunteer fire departments. She also keeps his memory alive by talking to groups about safety. Colten is greatly missed and loved.

My neighbour was saved this past fall only a few weeks after the local fire department had run this drill! Incredibly scary situation but I have no doubt this kind of training saved his life.

That’s honestly really cool how pressure works and how you can feel it when they stepped on the grain. Thankfully they practice this rescue method often and we have the equipment

I know everything :
It's a fantastic idea, just not practical for most situations. People usually enter grain bins to remove a blockage, and when it breaks free the grain will consume you in seconds. MANDATORY TRAINING and safety equipment should be required for anyone working on these locations. We've lost to many people to these preventable situations. Thanks for spreading information on the dangers of grain bins.

People don’t understand how important volunteers like yourself are. The rescue personnel get a musch better understanding and experience when you’re there and actually can tell them what hurts and not 👏
