I just broke up with a good guy on paper...we had lots in common, we enjoyed the same things, but i was full of emotional depth & he had very little. He enjoyed a surface level connection, where I needed a soul connection. Our communication was also misaligned & I spent all of my time explaining myself, & him defending himself. In the end I just felt this empty feeling mixed with exhaustion

I know you talked about misalignment in values and I logically understand why that cant work. But what about the perfect on paper relationship where you are aligned in everything (future plans, goals, values etc) but felt it wasn’t right, he was an AMAZING guy and I miss him so much. Why can you fall out of love in that instance or feel like it’s just not right no matter how hard you try?

You will breakup with them when you’re finally ready. Sometimes it can be the smallest thing that lets you do it. Mine was, he didn’t wish me happy birthday until late in the day. He thought it was funny, trying to do something unpredictable.

I agree with you. I knew my relationship wasn’t right, but he kept convincing me that we belong together. So I accepted his reasoning and settled. Then 15 years later woke up one morning and said I can’t do this any more. The ending was Divorce! 😢

So many people judging breakups like this. If you communicate the way you need to feel loved (to hear it and to be complimented and flirted with in my situation), and are not able to meet that but they’re still a good person it just comes down to misalignment. Asking for romance from a person you love shouldn’t be asking for too much.

going thru this right now and when I’m struggling I really find peace in remembering those “deep down” feelings I had bc I KNEW my future self would resent being with them & I would never want to raise a family on those conditions
