Levi Makoni :
Even when I was a Christian (which you're going to say I wasn't. No true Scotsman would ever put sugar in his porridge, amarite?), I knew that there isn't much in the way of evidence for the historicity of fundamental Christian claims, such as the Exodus, the United monarchy under Saul and David, the virgin birth, Jesus being born in Bethlehem, the massacre of the innocents, miracles, and the resurrection. I also knew that there were no real answers to the problem of evil/suffering that preserves the tri-omni qualities of God in classical theism, or just went back to the refrain "God works in mysterious ways". I also knew that I would need to commit to the belief that I was merely luck to be born in the right place (Southern Africa), and the right time (after slavery and colonialism). My answer to those questions wasn't anything logical. It was just that I had faith. While it is true that Christians, many of whom were far more brilliant than me have contented with those questions for thousands of years, it isn't true to say that they answered them. Your confidence is either a pretence, or a result of having never fully wrestled with those questions. Either way, you're in no position to ridicule those who have deconstructed.
