They’re completely dependent, riding on her back as she leaps through the trees. She forages, scans for predators, socializes with the group, all while carrying her baby without missing a beat. In many troops, other females help too, but mom is the anchor. The baby knows her scent, her sound, her movement. That bond is survival. Seeing it in the wild makes it so clear.
