That night, he ran out of his house barefoot and without his car, into the freezing snow. His parents contacted authorities immediately, and searches were conducted, but no trace of him was ever found. The mystery remained unsolved for more than a decade. In January 2019, workers who were dismantling the former No Frills supermarket — where Larry had once been employed — made a shocking discovery: human remains lodged behind one of the store’s large industrial refrigerators. The forensic investigation determined that Larry had entered the store on a night when he was not scheduled to work. It appears he climbed onto the top of the coolers, an area employees sometimes used to rest. At some point, he lost his balance and fell into a narrow gap of about 45 centimeters, becoming trapped with no way to escape. The height of the shelving units and the constant, loud hum of the refrigeration motors prevented anyone from hearing any calls for help. Authorities concluded that he died only a few days after his disappearance. For nearly ten years, his body remained there unnoticed by anyone inside the store.
